Npower beneficiary, Momohjomoh Zubiani, has disclosed the reason behind delay of Npower volunteers monthly stipends.
The beneficiary alleged that managers of the federal government social investment programme are collaborating with partnering banks to delay volunteers' stipends in order to generate interest before sending the money to beneficiaries.
Zubiani, whose state of primary assignment could not be ascertained at press time, claimed to have gathered his information from a reliable source.
CNR Nigeria could not verify the authenticity of his claims at press time.
He said in a post on a popular social media group that the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN released volunteers stipends at the end of every month but handlers of Npower, in connivance with partnering banks, are delaying the money to generate interest from it before releasing it to volunteers.
Zubianu wrote:
"Alert!! Gathered from a reliable source..The handlers of Npower programme in connivance with the management of GTBank are now in the habit of deliberately withholding your monthly stipends with the aim of generating interest. Central Bank of Nigeria.
"CBN. give out not less than 5.4billion Naira to GTBank at the end of every month, for onward distribution to other designated banks. For those of you who understand how banks works, trade with 5.4 billion Naira and tell me the proceed/interest per day.
"The Npower handlers and GTBank will trade with your 5.4 billion Naira for two weeks. They did it in November 2017, they did it in January 2018 and now February stipends..They are careless, wicked and corrupt. We are going to send a protest letter to the National Assembly for further investigation", the volunteer threatened.See the post below:
