Police operatives have arrested 27 year-old lady for allegedly faking own kidnap. According to reports, the lady identified as Grace Kyosimire disappeared from her home and sent messages to her family claiming that she had been kidnapped. She reportedly claimed that her kidnappers wanted a ransom of Shs4m to release her or else she could be killed.
After failing to receive any money from the family Kyosimire sent an sms that the kidnappers had killed her and were demanding for money to tell where her body was dumped.
This made the concerned family members report a case at Katwe Police Station in Kampala, Uganda.
Police then asked one of her closest friend to call the phone number used to send messages and shockingly Kyosimire picked up the phone.
The two agreed to meet at a restaurant located at Mega Standard Supermarket.
Police later swung into action only to find the missing Kyosimire having lunch with her friend at the agreed restaurant and upon searching was found with the same phone using in forwarding messages.
Upon interrogation, Kyosimire admitted to have faked her kidnap, saying she wanted money to settle her long standing debts.
The suspect is currently detained at Katwe Police on charges of demanding money by menaces.
