The Los Angeles Police Department revealed an emergency call was put out for her in the Hollywood Hills at 11:39 am, following reports on TMZ that the singer - who has fought substance abuse for several years - had overdosed.
Her current condition is unclear. Lovato has publicly discussed her history of drug abuse, which began when the singer was 17.
She went to rehab in 2010 and was open about the extent of her drug problems in a 2012 documentary called Demi Lovato: Simply Complicated.
Following the release of her recent song "Sober," some speculated the singer may have relapsed, due to lyrics including "Momma, I'm so sorry, I'm not sober anymore."
Stars have rallied around to show her support.
