NYSC to investigate Finance Minister’s exemption certificate
There seems to be more trouble for Nigeria’s Minister of Finance, Kemi Adeosun as the management of the National Youths Service Corps (NYSC) has vowed to probe the purported exemption certificate in her possession.
Although, it admitted that based on its records, she actually applied for an Exemption Certificate, but the agency in a statement signed by the Director, Press and Publications Relations, Mrs. Adenike Adeyemi, assured that it will investigate the origin of the purported Exemption Certificate in question.
The NYSC was reacting to the exclusive story published by Premium Times on Saturday detailing how Mrs Adeosun skipped the mandatory national service and forged an exemption certificate of the service to cover for it.
Adeyemi said, “Our attention has been drawn to the issue of the alleged forgery of an NYSC Exemption Certificate by the Honourable Minister of Finance, Mrs Kemi Adeosun. Checking our records, Mrs Adeosun did apply for an Exemption Certificate. We shall investigate the origin of the purported Exemption Certificate in question. Thank you.”
However, the scheme is yet to reveal if she was actually given the exemption certificate which she applied for.
