The All Progressives Congress (APC) lawmakers have denied complicity in the alleged siege to the Ekiti State House of Assembly by some ‘mystery’ armed policemen.
Minority Leader, Gboyega Aribisogan, said the allegation by Speaker Kola Oluwawole was untrue, baseless and unfounded as nobody laid siege to the Assembly complex.
Aribisogan also threatened to file a court action against Oluwawole for accusing him (Aribisogan) of forging a letter purportedly written to the police to demand deployment of riot policemen.
He said the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) legislators were gripped with the fear of the unknown and afraid of their shadows, which he said was the basis of “wild and unsubstantiated allegations.”
Aribisogan said: “The allegations are untrue, baseless and unfounded and there was no reason for me to deploy Police to the Assembly complex in the first instance.
“We in the APC have not indicated any interest in coming to office for now and I have said earlier that if and when we want to come, we will duly inform the Police.
“The allegation of writing a forged letter to the Police is false and for them to accuse me wrongly of forging a letter, I am considering a legal action against the Speaker because it was a wrong and false accusation which I want him to prove in court.
“They are afraid of their shadows, APC will not join PDP in their impunity and we will never resort to illegality. Ekiti people have voted APC to power and we will not use any illegality.
“Fear of the unknown will continue to haunt Fayose and his henchmen. For them to go ahead to tell civil servants working in the Assembly not to come again is illegal.
“They lack the power to tell workers to go on illegal holiday even denying them the right to process their salaries. They don’t have the right to send Assembly workers on holiday.
“There was no police siege today and no policeman was sighted in the Assembly complex so the allegation is a figment of their imagination.” Source
