Drake Makes History, Becomes First Artist To Surpass 50 Billion Streams
Drake has made history yet again as it was revealed on Wednesday, August 8, that the Toronto rapper has become the first artist ever to reach 50 billion streams across all platforms.

A statement from Republic Records Media, representing Young Money, Cash Money and Republic, confirmed the streaming milestone, as it further praised the rapper as “the first artist to surpass 50 billion streams across all global streaming platforms.”
The achievement follows the success of his album Scorpion, which was recently confirmed as the first full-length record to rack up one billion streams in a week globally.
The album’s song streams surpass Post Malone’s Beerbongs & Bentleys, with its tracks played 700 million times in their opening week in April.

He also broke Spotify and Apple Music’s single-day streaming record, and he holds the highest first week album sales total in 2018 (by around 300,000 units).
In addition to that, Drake’s inescapably huge single “In My Feelings” has been No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 for four weeks straight. The infectious hook “Keke, do you love me?” is everywhere, including social media, thanks to the #InMyFeelings challenge. Drake has also held the top spot on the Hot 100 for 23 weeks total this year.
According to Apple’s Instagram post, the rapper has surpassed 10 billion streams in his career to date. Industry insiders claim that the number could exceed 13 billion.

However, Forbes points out that the official number could be even higher when taking into account the platforms uneligible for the charts.
