World’s SMALLEST cars to be auctioned off next month in the UK – would you drive them?

Two of the smallest production cars in the world will go on sale in the UK next month.

The first of the two cars is the Zele 1000, which is a pint-sized electric city car.

It was surprisingly built by Zagato, a firm responsible for designing some of the most exclusive Aston Martins and Maseratis.

Built in 1974, the car could actually work for 2018 motorists as there is a switch towards electrified travel.

It is powered by four 12-volt carriers which can be recharged by simply being plugged into a mains socket via a transformer.

These batteries allow the car to achieve range of around 50 miles and a top speed of just 25mph.

The car’s current owner claims he uses the car regularly and has done for the past 11 years it has been in his possession.

Previously, the owner has given it a full nut and bolt restoration.

It is less than two-metres in length and is likely to not be terribly comfortable or safe.

For comparison, the Ford Fiesta is around four metres in length.

Just 500 Zeles were built and RM Sotheby’s is selling this model at its London sale on September 5.

It is being sold without a reserve, but has an estimate of £5,000 – £10,000.

1975 ACOMA Mini Comtesse will also go up for auction (Image: SWNS)

The Zagato Zele 1000 is one of two tiny cars being sold at the high-profile auction, held in Battersea.

Joining the diminutive motor is the similarly small 1975 ACOMA Mini Comtesse.

The French-built three-wheeler is similar to the Isle of Man-built Peel P50 and is just 1.7-metres in length.

The Peel P50 is just 1.34-metres in length and has a curb weight of just 56kg and gained popularity when it was featured by Jeremy Clarkson in Top Gear.

One version of the car went to action for a whopping £90,000 last year.

Powering the Mini Contesse is a 49cc engine developing just 3bhp – giving the unconventional-looking car has a top speed of 20mph.

Despite it being a single-seater vehicle it is fitted with two doors – one conventional on the driver’s side and one gullwing on the left.

Much like the Zele 1000 it carries an estimated sale price of £5,000 – £10,000
