Kidney
is a vital organ in the human body that helps in filtering blood and
producing urine. Apart from the removal of waste product and toxins from
the body, kidney also help in secreting hormones that help produce red
blood cell, promote bone health and regulate blood pressure.
Here is some basic function of the Kidney;
- Regulation of osmolarity
- Regulation of ion concentration
- Regulation of PH
- Excretion of waste and toxins
- Production of Hormones.
Below are some of the causes of kidney disease:
- Keeping urine for long.
It
is not a good idea to live urine for long in the bladder. Whenever the
urine returns to the ureter, the toxin substance can be infectious to
the kidney. The urine that stays in the bladder multiplies bacteria
quickly.
If
the bladder is healthy, it can store up to 16 ounces (2 cups) of urine
for about 2 to 5 hours.so is advisable to answer the call of nature
quickly.
- Taking Too Much Caffeine.
Caffeine
act as a natural stimulant by activating the central nervous system.
Caffeine is the main ingredient in coffee. It can increase your blood
pressure and your kidney will start suffering due to the struggle with
high blood pressure. It is advisable to drink less than 3 cups of
caffeine a day. However, reduce or try to moderate the amount of soft
drinks you take in.
- Lack of Much Water.
Our
kidney should be hydrated properly to perform their functions very
well. When there is lack of water, toxins will be accumulating in the
blood. It is advisable to drink more than 10 glasses of water daily.
- Eating of Much Red Meat
Protein
is found in meats. Excess protein can affect your kidneys. When Protein
is digested, ammonia is produced which is a toxin that can affect the
kidney. It is advisable to reduce the amount of Red meat intake in our
diet.
- Too Much Salt intake.
Eating
too much salt can alter the amount of sodium balance in your body. Too
much tends to affect the amount your kidney removes water from your
body. it is also advisable not to eat more than 4 to 5.8grams of salt
daily.
Below are some drink and food that are good for your kidney’
- Apple
- Mushroom
- Cranberry juices
- Kale (is a good source of vitamin A and C which prevent inflammation and protect the immune system).
- Water.
