Curvaceous women, Uganda's newest tourist attraction

Uganda to start a beauty contest for curvy women to promote tourism in the country

Tourists will be flocking to Uganda not only to check out the Chimpazee's and national parks, but curvy women have also been added to the list of tourist attractions that the country can offer.

The call for women with attractive curved shapes is on for a pageant dubbed Miss Curvy Uganda that will be held in June this year.

The Minister of State for Tourism while launching the pageant at Mestil hotel noted that the time to showcase Uganda's beautiful women was now.

"We are doing this to appreciate the way God created us. It is only in Uganda where you can find beautiful people like these," Minister Kiwanda added.

"Miss Curvy Uganda is organized to recognize and acknowledge the big, bold and beautiful plus size Ugandan ladies. This pageant aims to enhance the visibility and appreciation of curvaceous ladies as they walk the runway."

Miss Curvy is an event that will bring out the endowment of the real African woman. It's set to take place this year in Kampala. It will be an exceptional event that will see young ladies showcase their beautiful curves and intellect.

"Most pageants celebrate slenderness and pretty faces, which is a more Western way of looking at beauty. Most African women are uniquely built, but that does not make them any less attractive, so Miss Curvy Uganda honors uniquely built African women," A source noted on their website.

The person behind this has considered the fact that international pageants mainly focus on slender and tall models as one of the qualities for being part of the competition, so they are targeting the plus size and curvy women for the Miss Curvy Uganda competition.

Meanwhile, a section of ladies through the Uganda Women Network (UWONET) have come out vying to prevent this pageant from happening.

During a press conference held at their offices, the women have asked the Minister to come out and apologize to Ugandans for forgiveness.

Government should also come out clear on this as to whether this is a Government project or a private initiative.

The women also wondered how the Minister could leave the hot weather, the rain, hills and so on to instead promote curvy women.
