Inset is Solomon Serwanjja and his wife Vivian Nakalika Serwanjja
Police detectives are searching for NBS journalist, Solomon Serwanjja over the illegal possession of government drugs.
Detectives landed on 14 boxes of Lumefantine tablets, vaccines for Hepatitis B and other drugs labelled with government seals were found in Serwanjja's home in Mukono.
The NBS journalist was not home at the time. Police called him and he promised to come, but he failed to show up forcing police to search his home in the presence of his wife, Vivian Nakalika.
Mrs. Serwanjja is now detained as the search for Serwanjja is on to establish how government drugs ended up in their home.
"The file will be taken to the State Attorney for perusal and advise any time," Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson Patrick Onyango noted.
"He is a journalist who could have been carrying out an investigative story," One noted.
"If they were investigating a case of that nature, we as a government, we are interested partners, they would have approached us that we are carrying out an investigation, but when you don't inform us, and you go ahead and deal with something that we are fighting, we have to arrest you and investigate the matter to its logical conclusion."
Serwanjja is now required by police to explain how the drugs got to his residence.
Serwanjja's wife, Vivian Nakalika, and four others are now under police custody to help with investigations for illegal possession of government drugs.
Serwanjja insists he will be reporting to police very shortly, but in the company of his lawyer.
