Smartphone Photo Carnival is a new carnival approved by the Cross River State Govt. & endorsed by the Calabar Carnival Commission.
The people of Calabar and Nigeria as a whole will be given the license to party as a unit on the beautiful streets of Calabar while shooting everything before their eyes with their smartphone camera.
This Carnival is all about celebrating Humanity and the way we see the world through our smartphone camera, & the history of Calabar all in one breath.
The smartphone Photo carnival will hold on the 23rd of December; kick-off point is the "Finger Park" by the UJ Esuene sports stadium by 12noon. It'll be a street party stretching 1.4km with some stops along the way for highlights and more memories to be made.
We advice the general public to have their phones fully charged and still come out with their power banks if they can because photos will be taken almost every minute en route.
Expected to attend are all smartphone photography enthusiasts, carnival lovers, dancers, models, fashion designers, artists, and everyone out there. Even the nerds would feel at home in this Carnival.
Must see highlists of the Smartphone Photo Carnival
• Full chicken eating challenge: 100 lucky participants of the carnival get the chance to finish a whole chicken. Whoever conquers this task first gets to be crowned inaugural champion of the Smartphone photo carnival's pioneer full chicken eating challenge champion.
• Free WiFi zone: organisers will make free WiFi available for the whole carnival parade to stop along the way and deliberately make their presence felt even more by encouraging everyone in attendance to post all necessary pictures online, and use the necessary hashtags across all social media platforms. This would also be the zone where brands can directly connect with the people.
• Memory lane: en route they'll be a section on the road where the history of Calabar will be on displayed for everyone to see. It'll be a sight as creative as it'll be enlightening.
• Drone show: sometime during the carnival multiple drones will take to the skies to cover the show. They'll bring a fresher & more suave perspective to viewing the days proceedings. It'll be amazing to watch, it'll feel like scenes out of a futuristic sci-fi blockbuster.
• Street art exhibition: Artists from around the country will get to put their craft on display along our carnival route to gain more exposure.
They'll be a Kids challenges children between the ages of 6-13years get to engage each other in fun games for the chance to walk away with medals.
There is all this and so much more planned for the D day, 23rd of December, 2019. It's important that you to come through, looking simple but sophisticated, ready to let loose, phone fully charged, have backup power handy if necessary, ready to mingle and make the best memories attainable.
