The Federal Government has converted the Federal Medical Centre, Katsina, into a Federal Teaching Hospital.
This followed the approval by President Muhammadu Buhari that sealed a Memorandum of Understanding between the Federal Government and the Katsina State Government on the use of the Federal Teaching Hospital Katsina.
The newly converted health facility will serve as a clinical training site for medical students of the Umaru Musa Yar’adua University, Katsina.
It could be recalled that the MOU was signed on December 8th, 2020 by the Executive Governor of Katsina State, Aminu Masari, on behalf of the State Government and the Honourable Minister of Health, Dr. Osagie Ehanire, on behalf of the Federal Government.
The Chief Medical Director of the Hospital, Dr. Suleiman Bello Muhammad, while addressing journalists at the hospital complex said efforts have been ongoing for many years to convert the Centre into a Federal Teaching Hospital.
He believed that the realization of these great achievements would not have been possible without the contributions of various stakeholders including the Katsina State Government under the leadership of Governor Aminu Masari.
Other contributors include the Chief of Staff to the President, Professor Ibrahim Gambari; the Board of Management of the Federal Teaching Hospital Katsina under the Chairmanship of Hajiya Hannatu Akilu; the Katsina State Elders’ Forum under the Chairmanship of Alhaji Amadu Kurfi, Maradin Katsina, the Federal Ministry of Health under the leadership of Dr. Osagie
Ehanire and the Emir of Katsina, HRH Ahaji Abdulmumini Kabir Usman, as well as the Emir of Daura, HRH Alhaji Faruk Umar Faruk.
