Anti-abortion lawyers fighting for 12-year-old girl to have baby of family member that raped her

Two pro-life lawyers have been fighting for a 12-year-old girl to give birth to the baby of a family member who raped her.
Lorie Mullins and Win Johnson, who are both anti-abortion, have blasted a court after it granted the girl the right to terminate her pregnancy.
The girl reportedly told the court that she did not want to have the child because she was scared.
The court decided that she did not require parental consent to have the abortion because she had been removed from her mother’s care five times, and because she had no family support.
Yet, Mullins said the youngster has been "put in the position of being the perpetrator of this newest violence," while Johnson - who also opposes gay marriage - said she 'wasn't mature enough' to make the decision.
Johnson is the former Legal Director for the Administrative Office of Courts under Chief Justice Roy Moore, and Mullins, is the Executive Director of COPE Pregnancy Center, who has counseled post-abortive women.
Mullins, who has not worked with or even met the unnamed victim, said she was sure she would regret her decision after the ruling.
She added: "The courts, the law has decided that she’s not old enough, wise enough and mature enough to make her own decision about whether or not she wants to drink, to buy a pack of cigarettes to drive a car.
"They have now put this decision, this responsibility, in her hands.’
"Government is supposed to protect innocent life," Johnson added. "The Court of Civil Appeals made the decision that this girl was mature enough to decide to murder her own child in her womb.
"Has anyone explained this too her in its darkest, rawest form? In this case we're victimizing two people.
"It's time we have judges who will do their duty and who are not afraid of what might happen."
The girl, who at the time of the incident was living at home with her mother, her stepfather, four siblings and an uncle, has since been removed from the home. She does not know her father.
The girl sought a waiver from the parental consent law, but a district attorney objected before a family court judge approved the waiver last month.
On July 12, the Alabama Court of Civil Appeals upheld that deicison.
The 12-year-old girl’s petition to be allowed an abortion come from her wish not to communicate with her mother, who the court heard has allegedly been neglectful and abusive towards the child.
She and her four siblings are now in the custody of the Department of Human Resources, reports the Montgomery Advertiser.
The lawyer has spoken out against court decisions before, saying of the US Supreme Court’s decision to legalise gay marriage in 2015: "Public officials are ministers of God assigned the duty of punishing the wicked and protecting the righteous."
