It’s Unfair to Assume That All Female Musicians Have Slept Their Way Through To Get Famous- Chidinma

Nigerian Singer, Chidinma who was recently at NET TV speaks in an interview with JOAN OMIONAWELE on her long break from the music industry, her relationship with fellow singer, Kiss Daniel, and the recent social media backlash on Comedian Ebiye who alluded that alternative singer, Aramide bagged a Headies award by sleeping with the organisers of the show. Read: NET Exclusive: Kiss Daniel And Chidinma Started Dating Officially In 2017 The singer who rose to stardom after winning the third season of Project Fame West Africa stormed the industry with lots of talent and promise but left her fans hanging when she veered off the music scene for a long period of time. While speaking of being away from the music scene for a long time, Chidinma apologised to her fans for taking a long break. In her words, 'I apologise for being away for a long time' I just needed to put a few things in place but it will not happen again. The artiste who just dropped her new single, Yanga hinted that there is going to be more energy from her this year'. On people thinking she is too talented but under-utilising her talent, she said 'people are entitled to their opinion, I am used to people saying things about me but I never get offended so I just let it go'. Chidinma also had a few words for the President regarding a controversial statement where he described Nigerian Youths as laid back people who just like to sit around and wait for the government to get things done for them. 'I think it is disrespectful, we have lots of youths on the streets; we also have lots of them slaving on the streets, I think making that kind of statement to people like that is disrespectful. Trust me, Nigerian youths are not lazy'. While weighing on an incident with Instagram Comedian, Ebiye who was recently bashed for alluding that a fellow singer, Aramide probably slept with the organisers of the Headies to get an award, she was unapologetic about her views saying: 'It is unfair to make such a statement. Of course, we know it is a male-dominated industry and things work well for our male counterparts but it was very wrong of him to say that'. She however declined to talk about her relationship with Flyboy flagship artiste, Kiss Daniel. Speaking in a very shy manner, she said, 'Can I not answer this question, we are just guys who roll together. If it is about the pictures you see, we just put out those pictures, we did not want to tease our fans' Watch the full interview below.
